About Operation Compassion of Florida

Inspired by Jesus’ call to “feed them,” Operation Compassion of Florida works to reduce food insecurity across Marion County and beyond by providing healthy food to families in need.

What began in 1998 as volunteers handing out small bags of groceries has grown into a ministry now distributing over 100 pounds of food per family at regular distributions. In 2025 alone, more than 200 volunteers helped serve over 23,000 families and 76,000 individuals with 1.4 million pounds of food, equating to 3 million dollars in food assistance. As needs continue to grow, our mission remains simple: sharing healthy food to bring hope and strengthen our community, one family at a time.
